Erin Hunking

Biography

With two decades of experience in the banking industry, Erin Hunking brings deep expertise and a practical approach to helping Canadian businesses grow. Since joining BDC in April 2021, Erin has worked with mid-market companies in the Hamilton–Brantford region, supporting organizations with revenues ranging from $3 million to $50 million.

Erin delivers tailored financial solutions and strategic advice across all stages of business growth—from financing share and asset purchases to commercial real estate transactions. Her background includes specialized experience in equipment financing and credit adjudication, giving her a well-rounded perspective on business lending.

Originally from Toronto—one of the most diverse and multicultural cities in the world—Erin is a passionate advocate for diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA). In 2021, she became a Client Diversity Ambassador at BDC, championing equitable access to financing, resources, and networks for underrepresented entrepreneurs. She firmly believes that when diverse business owners are empowered, they drive meaningful contributions to Canada’s economic future.

Erin holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and an MBA from McMaster University.
